Makita have a dedicated training team with facilities for all your training requirements. At our Glasgow, London or Milton Keynes head office we offer a wide range of courses from induction courses to the power tool industry and refresher courses for new tools through to Health and Safety focused courses accredited by City & Guilds.

Our future is important, Makita knows this and so is proud to be the only tools manufacturer to offer training in the use of any and all power tools from within its National Training Centre in Milton Keynes.

In fact, Makita is the first company to provide an accredited City and Guilds course, to ensure that everyone is able to use any power tools in the correct fashion within the workplace and the home.

TRAINING

Running for a minimum of a day, dependant on the amount and kind of tools covered, the course will go over important points like health and safety, risk assessment, arm vibration syndrome (the cause of and symptoms) and the safe operation and use of portable, electric power tools.

Training is universal; it doesn't just apply to Makita brand tools, and is open to all within the construction industry as well as teachers and other school/college trainers.

General product course This course is a must for any personnel in an organisation committed to selling Makita products and gives a high level of familiarity with the entire Makita range of power tools.	The Makita story. Familiarisation with the entire range of tools. Practical demonstrations and ‘hands on’ experience. Product literature.	1 day OR 2 days
Outdoor power product course With the inclusion of our Dolmar brand to the Makita range we have quadrupled our product range. This course is now over 2 days and is a must for our dealers to give them the highest level of knowledge needed to be a reputable and successful agent in this highly competitive field.	Explanation of 2 and 4 stroke engines. Familiarisation with the entire range and the modern technologies. Practical demonstrations. The right tool for the job. Product literature.	1 day OR 2 days
Electric service course This course is for authorised service personnel who require a precise insight into the repair of a cross section of Makita power tools.	Introduction into servicing. ‘Hands on’ experience. Correct warranty procedures. Tailor-made training.	1 day OR 2 days
Service course This course is for authorised service personnel who wish to gain skills in either servicing pressure washers, gas nailers, air or petrol tools.	Introduction to specific products. ‘Hands on’ experience. Fault finding. Updates on the specific product area covered.	1 day
Outdoor power service course A must for all our Makita and Dolmar authorised servicing dealers. The course has been specifically designed to demonstrate how easily the product range can be maintained, serviced and repaired.	Explanation of 2 stroke and 4 stroke engine technology. The benefits of modular construction. ‘Hands on’ repairing and servicing experience. Fault finding. Correct warranty procedures. Updates on the specific product area covered.	2 days
Correct and safe use for handheld power tools A city and guilds accredited course covering hazards arising from use, precautions to be observed, correct and safe use. (Excluding chainsaws). Note: Elements 1-5 are mandatory. The course is aimed for the candidate to deliver and run a user course on power tools. On successfully completing the course the candidate will be issued with a City & Guilds accredited user certificate and a Makita instructor certificate.	Health and safety requirements. Risk. Hand-arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS). P.P.E. Safe operation of hand operated power tools. Electric power tools. Petrol products. Air tools. Gas nailers. Abrasive wheel training These courses are designed for all Makita customers and end users to ensure compliance with the training regulations for abrasive wheels in Provisions and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (1998).	Fitting of abrasive wheels types 1, 27, 41, and 42 to machines. Understanding the label, storage, handling and transportation.	½ day in-house OR ½ day on-site
Abrasive wheel instructor’s course This course is to train your safety/training officers or technical staff to conduct their own courses and certificate their own employees and customers.	To enable the candidate to deliver the Abrasive fitting course. (Train the Trainer)	2 days Includes accommodation
Gas nailer user course Operator training for gas actuated fixing tools.	P.P.E. Outline of the tools usage and how it works. Safe use of the tool. Basic maintenance and cleaning.	½ day in house OR ½ day on-site
Chainsaw maintenance and cross cutting The course will cover preventative maintenance that is carried out daily or at regular intervals by the operator.	Preventative maintenance and daily checks. Cutting timber under tension and compression. Cutting timber into manageable sections or to a given length. Two day course Makita and UKRS certificate.	2 days Includes accommodation
