Previous Makita products have been made at their Dolmar subsidiary in Germany but the growth in Makita’s market share in the horticultural market in Europe has required increased production capacity to be established at the Telford facility.

Makita’s new British-made hedge trimmer range features both 550 watt and 670 watt motors, the former driving the 45cm, 55cm and 65cm long double-action, double-sided blades at up to 1,500 strokes per minute and the 670 watt motor powering the 55cm, 65cm and 75cm long blades at the same speed. The double blade means that the Makita trimmer will cut on either side of the blade, either on the down stroke or the up-stroke for improved efficiency and speed of operation. These trimmers will cut through a 21mm hedge branch.

The Makita hedge trimmers have a super-safe operator control system; requiring both hands to be on the controls to keep the machine running. The forward grip must be depressed whilst the second handgrip control, which must also be depressed, offers a choice of three alternative positions which enables the trimmer to be used either left or right handed or straight up for vertical trimming. Weighing just 4kgs and delivered with a 10m extension lead, these new British-made Makita hedge trimmers will become first choice for many ground-care professionals and householders.
